Healthy Travel Abroad

Many people dream about spending vacations overseas. Whatever beautiful the place can be, it would mean nothing if travelers are not in the greatest shape. The excitement, stress and other factors about the travel itself can cause sickness. But if they take some precautions, there is a big chance their trip will be the most enjoyable.

Prevention of Diseases and Jet Lag
First of all, at least a month before the trip and when the destination is defined, the traveler should consult a medical travel specialist to get consultation and vaccines specific to the destination's requirements. Then, they also should think about bringing first aid and medical kit. After that, jet lag often causes some health problems such as insomnia. Crossing time zones has impact on the internal body clock. To solve that, travelers from west to east can try to keep themselves out of the sun until the next sunrise after their arrival while travelers from east to west can only take a walk or a short jog upon their arrival. They have to drink plenty of water to avoid upset stomach and dehydratation.

Being Careful about the Food
When traveling in another country, one's body has to adapt not only to the climate and jet lag, there is also, and not least, the food. They should prefer boiled food as well as washed and peeled fruits. Everything that is uncooked and undercooked are to be avoided and especially food which need too many manual preparation just before being served. One of the best choices is pizza if travelers want to do it simple. Otherwise, they must choose restaurants where hygiene is reliable. And if the destination is a developping country, never buy food offered in the streets and prefer bottled water to tap water.

Safety Measures
Every traveler should check their destination's tradition rules and law. Some countries impose strict bans on duty-free alcohol and drugs. Then, it is wise to stay away, really away from any sort of manifestations or political demonstrations. Those events can escalate and turn into bad experience. Except from that, even if traveling means letting their guard down and enjoy every single moment and sight, travelers better not walk alone at night and avoid secluded places. They also should be careful if bringing anything expensive to avoid the risk of being assaulted and never forget belts in cars and helmets on bikes
