Family Vacations in Thailand

Thailand gathers qualities which make it a good destination for family holidays. The country has a strong identity, Siam was never colonized and has special and developed arts of its own, an original culture and even a typical alphabet. Thai people have a great sense of social conventions, good manners, modesty, calm and dignity. And Thailand is a great place for family vacations because kids are especially loved in the country. 


Before the Trip

Preparing a trip involves learning about the habits of the country. That will allow the travelers to better adapt to the country's customs and cultures and avoid to land unnecessarily themselves in danger. In fact, despite its occidental appearence, Thailand still has traditional rules which must be respected. Shoes must be taken off in temples, and whenever people may go, dressing decently is really advised. Thus, better avoid short skirts, tank tops, shorts and so on. Next, shaking hands for greetings is not a good idea, touching people's heads and pointing anything by foot are definitely frowned upon. In a nutshell, it is preferable to avoid physical contact in Thailand. Plus, Thai people are strong believers and think the royal family has been chosen by God, so they deserve the highest respect and openly criticizing the King is a prosecutable offence. Then, With its tropical climate, travelers might prevent any risks of mosquito bites. They should take appropriate vaccines before taking trip. They also should know that Thai food is very spicy, delightful but still spicy.

Family Activities

Thailand is such a great playground for children, it provides total escapism, adequate security conditions and good hotels with an excellent quality-price ratio. Everything that famillies may need are available in stores and malls, especially in Bangkok and some other big cities. Thailand also has cultural sites that have to be discoverd like temples which can fascinate both little ones and grown-ups. A bike ride up to the ancient city Sukhothai, situated in the middle of a quiet great park in the North, can be very interesting, too. After that, visitors can also admire crocodiles, snakes, elephants and multiple orchids in the country. The Dusit zoo and the Siam Ocean World Aquarium in Bangkok are must-sees places for adventurers, and Khao Yai and Khao Sok are also advised as parks to discover. Then, transport means can be fun in Thailand and there is just a wide choice between Tuk Tuk, Songthaews, cycle rickshaws, boats with long tail, ferries and whatever... Besides, Thai markets are like an outdoor Ali Baba's Cave, very colorful and show sorts of objects, fruits and tropical vegetables. And last but not least, the beaches in the South side of the country are the perfect places to relax with family
